Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson's 2013 State of the City Address

(Sacramento, CA) The City of Sacramento and the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce will host the 21st Annual State of the City on February 28th at 5:30 p.m. at Memorial Auditorium. Sacramento Next! will feature an address by Mayor Kevin Johnson that will focus on future goals and objectives for the City of Sacramento.

Mark S. Allen from “Good Day Sacramento” will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the night which, for the first time, will be open to the public as a free, community-wide event. “Sacramento is a city that works for everyone and it only makes sense that everyone is invited,” says Mayor Kevin Johnson.

During the program, Mayor Johnson will highlight some of the City’s major accomplishments over the past year and lay out his plans for his next four years in office. Entertainment will also be provided during the evening, including the singing of the National Anthem by Sacramento artist Jackie Greene, The Porter Brothers & MLK Celebration Choir, a performance by Step One Dance and Fitness’s “Play School Hip Hop Crew”, and more.

Mayor Kevin Johnson will also present the inaugural Mort Friedman Legacy Award. “Mort Friedman gave so much to Sacramento and inspired others to do the same that it is our honor to remember him for his service to our City,” says Mayor Johnson.

In keeping with the spirit of giving, attendees are asked to bring a can of food that will be donated to the River City Food Bank and the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services. All net proceeds will be distributed to local charities.

Doors open at 4:30, with the program, presented by AT&T and Wells Fargo, beginning at 5:30.
